APRENTICE is a program that provides graduate students with comprehensive training in all aspects of modern protein engineering research, including the design of novel proteins with tailored properties, their modification by chemical methods to expand functionalities, their structural/functional characterization, and their patenting and commercialization.
Our program facilitates the transition of the next generation of protein engineers from trainees to productive employees, entrepreneurs, and ultimately, innovators and intellectual drivers of research and development in the Canadian bio-economy. Trainees will acquire employment-ready professional skills through collaborative and integrative approaches and by interacting with key members of the biotech and life sciences industries. The trainees have opportunities to work within the facilities of our team-members from 6 different institutions including the University of Ottawa, University of Alberta, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, Université de Montréal, and Institut National de la Recherche Scientífique.
